HMG-CoA Reductase Inhibitorsubstances which inhibit the enzyme HMG-CoA Reductase thereby lowering cholesterol levels and inadvertently lowering CoQ10 levels. All statin pharmaceuticals are inhibitors of this enzyme and thereby bring about lowering of cholesterol levels and inadvertently lowering of CoQ10 levels.

HoloenzymeThe complete enzyme complex composed of the protein portion (apoenzyme) and cofactor or coenzyme.

HypercholesterolemiaExcess cholesterol in the blood.

HyperlipidemiaIncreased cholesterol level.

HypertensionHigh blood pressure. Hypertension increases the risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney failure because it adds to the workload of the heart, causing it to enlarge and, over time, to weaken; in addition, it may damage the walls of the arteries.

Inositol HexoniacinateThe form of Niacin that does not cause side effects, such as flushing and liver toxicity. Recent studies have shown that it lowers LDL cholesterol and raises HDL cholesterol.
